The F. Family

The F. Family came to the studio during the winter months to have their family portrait created. No, they’re not relatives of mine, but the whole family was truly a pleasure to be around. From baby on up, everyone was well behaved… I love sessions that go as smoothly as this one did!

Anyways, mom and dad ended up picking this portrait as their favorite, and it will be on display in their family room!

Dexter Train Depot – Family Portrait

Earlier this fall, the M. family and I planned an outdoors portrait session in the Dexter area. The family liked the idea of incorporating the old Dexter Train Depot — so off we went! Here are two images from their session, I think these look great in black and white… it kind of captures the old vintage feel that naturally accompanies the historic building.

The W. family planned a family portrait this fall — and the timing was just perfect when their session came. Downtown Dexter was full of golds and oranges, and the gazebo was even decorated with festive fall decorations. All in all, I love how these relaxed family portraits turned out. These will look great above the W. family’s fireplace!

Amber :: 2011 Pioneer Senior

Amber was one of our senior spokesmodels for 2011. She did a great job, and while I loved the images we created during her studio senior portrait session, I have to say that her location session portraits are in hot contention — both turned out amazingly.

Here are a few highlights from the second half of Amber’s session. We went to downtown Ann Arbor to create some really cool urban gritty portraits.

And, of course, we ended up with so many amazing portraits of Amber that an album was a necessity. Here’s the video of images in Amber’s senior portrait album:

Ms. K :: Business Portrait

Ms. K came to the studio to have me create a professional portrait. We ended up with two final favorites — one a little more business-like, the other more traditional portrait style. I’m sure these images will come in useful for Ms. K as she uses them to enhance her online identity. Having a professional image is really important — because people make split-second decisions as consumers, and their decisions are sometimes based on visual cues (like how professional and refined your portrait looks). Ms. K is definitely ahead of the game with these stellar portraits, but I am a little biased!

Lauren :: 2011 Dexter High School Senior

Lauren is a senior from Dexter High School. We had done her indoor senior portraits earlier in the summer, and recently completed her outdoor senior session. Here are a few favorites from Lauren’s outdoors session. I think they all turned out great!

And, like most seniors, Lauren ended up with a wonderful keepsake album to remember all of her amazing portraits. Here are some more images from Lauren’s session!

Siblings :: Location Portrait

Before it turned cold, I created a family portrait for the S. family. Unlike a typical portrait where everyone was involved, we decided to have this session focus on the kids. Well, adult-aged kids, that is. Both siblings were back in town on college break, so we went to Gallup Park to create some unique sibling portraits.

Andrew :: Pioneer Senior Pictures

Are you planning your senior pictures and want information? You’re almost there… follow this link to learn about our senior portrait services.

Andrew is a 2011 senior at Pioneer High School in Ann Arbor. For his senior portrait session, we decided to go on location. Since Andrew is a musician, we talked about what instruments he might like to incorporate. We settled on the marimba! Accordingly, the location was set to be at their home (since a marimba is *not* a small, portable, instrument). We had to reschedule once due to inclement weather, but on the day we created Andrew’s senior portraits, the sun was shining and the weather was gorgeous.

Here are a few favorites from Andrew’s session:

And here is the video! We actually put these images into a lovely album for Andrew’s family to enjoy. It’s a great way to showcase images if you are short on wall space!

Four Generation Family Portrait :: Chelsea, Michigan

This summer, Linda planned a four generation family portrait! We decided to create the family portrait at her mother’s farmhouse near Chelsea. And I think the results are absolutely priceless. We actually created two separate portraits — one with four generations of women (Linda, her mom, one of Linda’s daughters, and her granddaughter), and the other with three generations (Linda, her mom, and Linda’s other daughter).

Alexa :: Chelsea Senior Portrait

Alexa goes to Chelsea High School, and is a senior this year! She is a really creative senior, interested in photography, painting, and the arts! So, for Alexa’s senior portrait session, we decided to incorporate some of her artwork into the portraits (see the last outdoor portrait, which showcases a lot of her favorite photographs!). Of course, I told Alexa to bring her cameras with her… so we incorporated those into her senior portraits since she is into photography.

I even had a wave of creative inspiration myself — and Alexa liked my idea too. The resulting portrait is my absolute favorite image from Alexa’s session — it’s the black and white studio portrait with all the photography gear.

Have a wonderful final year, Alexa, and I can’t wait to hear which art school you decide to go to! 🙂

Michael :: Studio Portrait

Michael came to the studio the other day because he was in need of an updated professional portrait. He is currently in the process of getting into medical school! Anyways, here is the image we created for Michael:

Best of luck with the rest of your studies, I’m sure it will be very exciting when you are able culminate your schooling and become a practicing doctor!

Baby G :: Newborn Portrait

Baby G finally arrived… and we finally got her into the studio for her newborn portraits. Since she was a couple weeks old already, Baby G was pretty active! We did manage to lure her halfway to sleeping… and ended up with some wonderful portraits of her awake and asleep. I absolutely *love* this portrait of her in the basket… what a cute smile on baby!

Peanut :: Newborn Portrait

Baby Peanut came to the studio a couple days after she was born… boy was she tiny! Her parents participated in the session too, and we created some adorable family portraits for them to enjoy. Peanut was a joy to have in the studio — she mostly slept, and aside from a feeding break, things were pretty uneventful! Since we did these portraits, Peanut has gained about a third of her original body weight… and is quickly catching up to those “standards” that the doctors love use when measuring kids and babies.

Mike :: Senior Portraits Michigan

Mike had his senior portraits done at our studio recently. While we kept things simple, Mike did decide to have me create senior portraits for him both in studio and outdoors. I love the dramatic edgy feel in a few of the studio portraits. And in the outdoors portraits, I love the bold color combination (yellow, blue, green). Plus, an added bonus is that this is right outside the studio. So we didn’t have to drive anywhere, or park and walk in the sweltering heat!

Angel :: Outdoors Family Portrait Session

posted in: Photography | 0

We planned a relaxed session at Angel’s home, to include her entire family: three people and four dogs.

Bear was the oldest dog, and since he was going blind and deaf; we did a portrait of him being petted by “his” human. Kerby posed for the camera like a show dog (well, with the aid of treats)… and Catherine, well, I captured her doing what she does best — swim in the river.

I love all these portraits, but especially love the image I created of the whole family. It’s going to look great as a wall portrait in Angel’s home!
