Let me confess — I absolutely love doing portraits in new places. So, when my niece asked me if we could do her senior portraits on the other side of the state, I didn’t hesitate!
Would I do the same for a client?
Absolutely! You see, it’s super important to me that you are happy with the results. If you have your heart set on doing a portrait session on Lake Michigan, like Maggie — I will figure out a way to make that happen. Let me know what you have in mind and we can talk!)
Have camera, will travel!
Anyways, after packing up my gear (camera, lights, all that good stuff), we drove across the state to Lake Michigan. It’s not that far of a drive, honestly… And during the summer it’s gorgeous. I wasn’t the only one who came prepared. Maggie had a nice selection of outfits, shoes, and the like picked out for her senior portraits. The trick was narrowing it down!
That’s where I come in. In fact, I tell my clients to bring extra outfits if they can’t narrow their choices down. I’m happy to provide suggestions or make an impartial decision if that’s what my client wants. :).
After hair and makeup were finished, we headed out to the lake. Because we were planning a sunset portrait session, I kept a close eye on the clock so we could be in the right place at the right time.
We stopped at the lighthouse first, then walked out to the pier, and ended up down by the beach. After the sun set, we headed into town to the local ice cream place — and did a few photos there just for fun. Maggie’s cousins wanted to be in the photos too — so they met us at Dairy Treat. Too much fun!
If you’ve got a special location in mind for your senior portraits, please do share! While we most often photograph around the greater Ann Arbor area, I am happy to travel if you have a special location in mind. Give the studio a call at 734-424-0472 or email us via our web form today!
